The grass verges are especially beautiful this wee The grass verges are especially beautiful this week, bursting with vibrant shades of green. The recent, much needed rain seems to have brought everything back to life. As soon as you turn off the main road towards Hurst, you can almost feel the tension start to melt away. The little lane leading to Hurst is the perfect beginning to your escape in the Dales. We are proud to be a WiFi-free property, why come and truly switch off from the world for a while.

Spring has definitely sprung, last weekend’s gue Spring has definitely sprung, last weekend’s guests were lucky to enough to either see or hear, Golden Plover, Oyster Catchers, Curlew, Greylag Geese, Lapwing, Tawny Owl, Kestrel and a Green Woodpecker! Don’t worry if you don’t know what these sound or look like, we have a few birds books which will help but our favourite is to use the Merlin Bird App to identify Bird calls, it gets addictive !

🎉🥳We are 8 🥳🎉 This month, The Little 🎉🥳We are 8 🥳🎉 This month, The Little Barn is celebrating eight years of welcoming wonderful guests! Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of hosting so many special moments—from engagement weekends to honeymoons, milestone birthdays, and wedding anniversaries. One of our regular guests first stayed as an engaged couple, returned as newlyweds, and have since visited while expecting their first baby. We’ve helped plan surprise proposals, cozy getaways, and stargazing adventures under the breathtaking Dark Sky Reserve of the Yorkshire Dales. Some lucky guests have even witnessed the northern lights, planets like Jupiter and Saturn, the Milky Way, and shooting stars! More and more people are embracing time outdoors in the fresh air, and we love seeing guests enjoy simple pleasures—using the pizza oven and fire pit, no matter what the Yorkshire weather might throw at them. Something we worried about when we opened was not having any WiFi, we needn’t have been concerned it seems to be one of the things which people love most. In fact some people return again and again because of this. We’d love to hear your favourite memories of staying at The Little Barn. Share your stories with us! Today was one of those special winter days where T Today was one of those special winter days where The Dales looked glorious from every angle, I just had to pull over and take these few snaps on my way home, they probably don’t do the views justice but I guess it gives you a bit of an idea. Dry Stone Walls are a defining feature of the area and you’ll see plenty of them. They’ve been around for a very long time, sturdy and well built they can withstand all weathers. You may see sheep sheltering from the wind next to them and in warmer months they provide shelter from the sun, indispensable whatever the weather ! #hurst #drystonewall #drystonewalling #yorkshiredrystonewall

🌟A snapshot of 2024 🌟 Another fine year in 🌟A snapshot of 2024 🌟 Another fine year in Hurst, we’ve loved helping to celebrate birthdays, 50th’s 30th’s and even a 30th wedding anniversary. Of course a special mention must be said for the two wedding proposals ( both were a yes ). Some guests come to celebrate, an increasing number come to star gaze, some come to walk or to cycle, others visit local pubs and market towns but all guests love the peace and tranquility of Hurst. It provides a chance to forgot about our crazy world for a while to rest and recharge. Here’s to 2025 - Happy New Year everyone
